ill be super honest friends playing with google earths street view was simultaneously the weirdest and coolest experience for me
i was looking at areas im extremely familiar with because i visit them on a near weekly basis and yet it all looks so very different, despite the vague shape and appearance of everything being roughly the same
@puppy isn't it on psvr now too
@Violet not afaik. its def. on vive tho
@Violet its tiltbrush that psvr is getting iirc?
@Violet never mind no its not, thats coolpaintr
@Violet ok apparently a potential reason for earth vr not being on psvr is because psvr only allows for a small amount of space to be cached (1gb) for apps, and g earth needs way more than that ? or something
here have screenshot
@puppy they can very easily get around that if they stream the data
@Violet probably not the best solution to take
@puppy Google Earth is also on cardboard/daydream if I recall
@Violet nope. only oculus and vive
@puppy I remember using it with cardboard years ago
@Violet that was a version of street view that was just looking around 360 photos, not flying about a fully rendered 3d environment
@puppy there's a video of some person using it here https://youtu.be/EOwwgR6zQy0
@puppy it worked great on my phone, this was my first introduction to VR too
@puppy it most certainly wasn't as laggy as this guy's video of it
@Violet mind u, course i wont think it sounds v good, i didnt like cardboard at all
@Violet cardboard made me violently ill from motion sickness. its not great :x
@puppy what phone did you try it with? My note 4 was a flagship VR device around the time cardboard came out
@Violet cant remember. i think both marks phone and my own.
i dont think the problem was lag though. its just not good vr in general
@puppy it was very good for it's time tbh. The oculus I tried at EGX afterwards made me feel more sick than cardboard
@Violet psvr so far remains as the best vr ive used personally
tracking issues aside its. just better, and has more games that interest me
@Violet not tried oculus yet, mind. hoping to sneak a try at this years egx
@puppy this was the original Kickstarter oculus I tried, btw
@Violet yea
@puppy the CV1 is a heck of a lot better, minus Facebook's bullshit.
@puppy speaking of cardboard, not related to cardboard but still mobile VR regardless, I do wanna get my hands on one of those all-in-one headsets, the vive focus and oculus go
I'm really curious as to how those perform compared to traditional VR
@Violet theyre probably just a nicer version of cardboard tbh
@puppy I'd imagine they're a similar experience to the windows mixed reality headsets, since they use inside out tracking for the controllers
@puppy speaking of, I still haven't tried windows MR
@Violet ah yes, i keep forgetting about that.
@puppy I have doubts about windows MR ever appearing at EGX. I think they do have demos for it at some Curry's/PC world stores though
@puppy well, not necessarily sick, just dizzy
@Violet hmmm. i cant imagine it being very good
