@avie i think the last time i was enthusiastic about this stuff was the jump from windows 7 to windows 8

@avie vista was a major change in itself and set the base for one of the most successful versions of windows

@avie and I guess technically, windows 8 is the same, which basically set the base for the design styles we see in 10

@Violet @avie the only reason i stopped using windows 8.1 on my dual boot is support ended extremely fast

windows 10 is what made me drop windows for anything that didn't absolutely 100% require windows

i didn't /like/ windows 8.1, but it wasn't too different from what i thought was alright about 7. 10 feels like beta version software to me

@Violet @avie you know what? i'd actually call 10 alpha version software, since they have their new settings app that is nowhere near the functionality of the control panel

@xenon @Violet removing the inconsistency of having both settings and control panel is part of what 10x aims to fix amongst a lot of other things

@avie @Violet that'd be alright if i trusted microsoft to not just remove the control panel with an incomplete replacement

windows 10x feels more like a chromebook to me, and maybe that's the intention?

@avie @xenon yeah, the early phase is not intended as a replacement for 10, but more microsoft trying Windows RT again and doing it right
