hmm stop me from buying a novation launchpad please

nvm it's fine i closed the tab

all i need to stop myself from buying some piece of midi equipment is to remind myself that theres no good DAW on linux

(ive heard ardour is fine but last time i gave it a shot i got confused and overwhelmed and i closed it)

@codl tbh they're all like that, every single DAW is confusing until you learn it

but if you didn't like ardour i guess you can try LMMS?

@trwnh ive given lmms a shot some time ago but it crashed on me repeatedly so i gave up 🤷

@codl yeah tbh in general a lot of audio stuff is just mac-only? or at least, mac-first. 😷

@codl bitwig is actually fantastic tbh

@xvu huh i didnt even know it was on linux

@codl yeah for sure give it a go if you were ever an ableton head. I love it

@codl doesn't reaper + wine generally do its job ok?

@mhu2141ai idk i dont bother with wine anymore

@codl delphi added a linux compiler a few months ago, so we might see fl studio on linux sometime soon

i mean, that would be totally rad

@codl i say "might" very lightly here btw

it was about a year after mac support was added to delphi that the mac version was released, and image line seems to be trying to increase the number of platforms fl runs on

and even though the DAW itself is a delphi thing, VST plugins would still be an issue (like they are on mac)

noooo idea how troublesome their non-VST plugin format would be though

@thingywott mmm it seems like getting vsts to work on linux is possible, stuff like ardour and renoise support them, i'm guessing through some kind of emulation layer
