CVE-2023-21036 / acropalypse is absolutely bonkers.
Apparently for 5+ years the cropping / editing tools for screenshots on Google Pixel phones was only overwriting the start of the screenshot PNG file, but not truncating.
All screenshots shared for the past 5+ years might have data recoverable from them. Demo available at https://acropalypse.app/
Google still hasn't communicated anything on this.

Six years after I wrote https://danluu.com/android-updates/, Android updates are still a problem.
I keep seeing Android fans say this isn't a problem if you get a Pixel device, but this is the second time in the past couple years I've seen actual Pixel owners with phones < 2 years old complain that they can't get updates for some critical issue.
Meanwhile, Apple is issuing security updates for phones as old as the iPhone 5S (released in 2013) and generally ships feature updates for ~6 years.
