Just watching an episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine where they catch an assassin who has a photo of the victim on their phone, and thinking that I can't be an assassin due to prosopagnosia and that maybe makes it a disability, and can I put that on my PIP renewal form

But I'm Black so who cares about my pain? And I'm fat so I "need to walk anyway" as if pushing a wheelchair up a 12 degree incline with sharp crosscut to catch the fucking bus isn't exercise! I went out of my way to ask for a manual *to exercise* for my own health! But who cares if the fat Medicaid blackie is in a badly fitting chair and suffering constant pain and fatigue? Who cares about xyr quality of life? #wheelchair #disabled #disability

Continued thread

I have injured my thumbs, wrists & shoulders trying to push this chair. I can't do wheelies in it. I get tailbone, butt & leg pain from sitting in it too long, & NO ONE made any attempt whatsoever to get me into OT so I could learn any chair skills. I've asked! Repeatedly! For four years! And the only thing the PTs & that trash neuro did was try to take my chair from me! Even with the uncomfortable backrest & footplate my feet fall off of, it made life easier! #wheelchair #disability #disabled

Asking for help is something disabled people think about constantly. Who to ask, when they’ll be available, what will they be willing to do, etc. But airports are a different story. I know exactly who will help me, where to find them, and what they will do. The question becomes how to deal with the widely varying and wildly inappropriate quality of help I get. Read along as I ask things like “Why is it hard to understand that blind people don’t need a wheelchair?” And “Who told you blind people have to walk at the speed of 95-year-olds?” And “Why exactly are you snapping on rubber gloves in this bathroom?” deepsy.net/p/the-bewildering-w #Blind #Blindness #Disability #Disabled #Travel #Humor #Comedy

Stuck on the floor this morning and not gonna make it to my cardiology appointment today 😭 super hungry but there's not really anything to eat for breakfast in here and hubby is working.

I could be a way more independent wheelchair user if Drs actually believed that wheelchairs are a good thing, especially for fat people. But no, they gotta strive to preserve walking at all costs and deprive people of occupational therapy to actually use their chairs well #disability #disabled

A walk has been had.

The first photo involved standing at the entrance to a field, I loved the way the light was waking up the landscape. A very gentle haze towards Dundee.

I plodded slowly towards one end of the village, feeling not too bad. Rain was threatening at this point. Getting strange looks from people driving by, the joys of a small village, unless you are walking a dog, it is viewed to be strange to be walking.

Going round to the back of the village, all was quiet, houses in darkness, nobody up. The body was starting to protest, that clicking in the hip and burning in the spine, saying "silly woman, why?".

Turning away from the brightening sky, I continued on my merry way. The leg was starting to drag, getting up and down from pavements was becoming an issue.

Just past the halfway point, my body decided no. Broke out into a very cold sweat, dizziness, itching, pain. The rain came on properly, at this point, it was time to head home, hoping not to pass out on the way.

Turning onto the main road, turning east, the sky was the most glorious shades of pink which obviously my phone wouldn't capture. Seeing skies like that make it worthwhile going out early.

Now I'm relaxing with coffee, slowly recovering. Disappointed that I didn't make it the full mile, but no matter, I still managed something and that is positive.

Now, what's for breakfast?

First my microwave broke. I can’t cook on the stove or oven so I went a few days without food.

Then my loaner microwave broke in a most spectacular fashion that caused anaphylaxis.

Almost as soon as I got a new microwave, construction began in the unit above me which necessitated my leaving the apartment.

Leaving my home is nearly impossible in my current state of health. It costs far too many spoons and finding a safe environment is a herculean task.

I found a place to go, but unfortunately the scented products there triggered another episode of anaphylaxis.

My baseline was demolished.

I finally returned home only to find out my washing machine was broken.

I have severe MCAS and chemical sensitivities. Laundromats, dry cleaners or laundry services are not an option.

I’m in a huge city and there’s not a single service that can guarantee scent free.

So now I’m stuck trying to hand wash my clothes while I’m too weak to stand, when I was supposed to be coming home to recover from multiple setbacks.

This is the life of someone with complex chronic illness.

Stuff that would be barely a blip for a healthy person can absolutely shatter us.

I am shattered.

I’m not writing. I’m barely sleeping. Eating? What’s that? Resting? Gosh knows I’m trying but it eludes me as well.

I want to thank everyone who’s helped support me through this. Either logistically or with messages of support.

I’m feeling pretty down but this community is keeping me going.

You guys lift me up and make me feel like I’m making a difference in the world.

When I’m suffering and in pain, that means everything to me.

I will hopefully write about this when I’m feeling better as I’m sure my experience mirrors others. But for now it’s rest, rest and then resting some more!

My loved one is sick, please help.

I'm posting a link to an Amazon wish list for a loved one who has been diagnosed with failure to thrive. The problem now is that Medicaid insurance isn't paying for Kate Farms, the only liquid nutrition that the child can stomach. The child vomited up the ensure because it's got dairy and they're allergic to dairy.

I been making the shakes from scratch from a protein powder that is safe for them, and coconut milk. It is tolerated much better. I'm doing this while I'm fighting insurance, to avoid hospitalization. I am running out of money to fund this. If anyone can circulate or buy anything from this list, that would help so much. I can feel the approval on the horizon, it will probably take another week or two to go through and then ship.
