Back in ‘95 I was with some friends and we were listening to the new Soul for Real album. A couple of good tracks - so too big for a one-hit-wonder label.

And I just thought that this band would be “the new Jackson 5”.

But, alas, they never were.

Voice Farm. I've been listening to the proper version of their third album, 1991's Bigger Cooler Weirder. (There was a second bastardized version that had the semi-hit Free Thinker.) This track is from their second, self-titled, release, which is also fantastic.

This week's Tune Tuesday theme is More Fizzle Than Bang. Showcasing a band or artist you that would be bigger than they were.

I'm going with 19 (NANA), as I thought their City Pop sound was super fire, but they were pretty much doing it without a label and money behind them. Sadly they kind of disappeared 2 years ago.

Their song "Jelly" is still one of my favorite songs.

I fell in love with The Mirror Trap when I saw them supporting Placebo in 2015. They ended when a couple of members left just after they got a record deal. Some of them are now in Echo Machine, who are also good, but it still feels like a bit of a shame.

KPop is full of groups that deserved better. I had high hopes for these girls when they first came on the scene, but it just wasn't to be. They debuted in 2019, and disbanded at the end of 2022.
