Apparently, the American colonies (now the USA) left the United Kingdom because they didn’t want a King who could make royal decisions and lord it over them.
Now a President with Executive Orders acts in exactly the same way as those old Kings, setting aside bills passed by their elected democratic process.
Maybe those states who don’t like this should rejoin the UK where such actions are now illegal? They’d be better off.

They are fucking Kings, Queens and Princes. It all comes as a package. It is the point.

More to the point why are we not refusing them this parasitical existence rather than saying "devil take the hindmost"?

That's because no one does what the Press and TV tells them like a Brit does. Most timid, sheep-like people in the world.

Queen Victoria is in her formal court dress, while Prince Albert holds a feathered hat in his uniform. They just attended a Drawing Room ceremony at St. James's Palace, where people were presented to the Queen.

This is one of the first photos of Queen Victoria as a reigning monarch.
